I would like you guys to meet my boyfriend, Cameron. I have mentioned Cameron a few times since I started this blog, but I wanted to tell you guys more about our relationship and share our story with you!
I met Cameron at the end of 2012. I was only 15 and Cameron was 18 at the time. He was living in Texas.
I had been going through some mental health struggles and I honestly just needed a friend. I started talking to people online and I ended up meeting Cameron along the way.
When I first met him, I thought nothing of it. I wasn’t looking for a relationship at the time. We started talking on a messaging app. After a few weeks, we started calling each other on the phone because it was easier than texting constantly.
After getting to know Cameron a little more, I found out that he needed a friend too. He was going through some real life struggles at the time, like losing his grandma. She raised him so it was like he had lost his mother. Cameron was also in a relationship with this girl for two years. She moved away and then she cheated on him. It all happened around the same time. In other words, Cam just wasn’t doing too great when we first met.
We talked for weeks and started to facetime. I started to enjoy his company more and more. I always thought he was cute. One day, he told me that he liked me, but not just as a friend. He told me he would get a job so he could buy a plane ticket to come visit.
I thought about it for a while and decided that I would give the long distance relationship a try because I actually kind of had feelings for him as well.
That spring, he came to visit me. It was honestly so amazing to finally be able to see him in person. He stayed for a week and we really bonded. My parents also really liked him.
The day Cameron left was really hard. All I wanted was for him to be there with me. I missed him so much.
Cameron and I talked about how awesome it would be if we could live together. He told me that he would leave Texas because he was 18 and old enough to start his life. I was only 15, there was no way my parents were going to let me move out.
I talked to my parents about it and they thought it over for a while. They eventually decided that Cameron could come to live with us. They thought that he would be a good addition to the household and they noticed that he helped me come out of my shell while he was visiting.
About two months later, Cameron had saved enough money for another plane ticket. This time, he wasn’t going to have to leave.
Cameron and I have been living in my parents basement ever since. I couldn’t ask for a better boyfriend, he is my everything. I am so lucky that I got to meet him and that now I get to spend the rest of my life with him. We have been together for 5 years and all I can say is that he is the one for me.
Even after 5 years, I still get excited to see him when he walks in the door. I still love waking up to his face every morning. I look at Cameron and I just know that I have found my best friend, my soul mate.
Here’s a picture for you guys!
